I am back from Italy today after a few days at the Tuscan coast and thought I send you a note thanking you for all your assistance regarding our holiday. We really enjoyed staying at Il Leccio. The house, the property and the surroundings were beautiful. Everything was perfect and my family very happy.
Excellent experience staying in an actual castle. Beautiful location ideal for people with a car to do day trips in Tuscany (Florence, Pisa, Siena etc...). We stayed in the bastione room and the downstairs area (kitchen/living room) is perfect: nice and cool so we didn't have to use the air conditioning
We had an amazing stay at the villa. The family was more than welcoming and went out of their way to make sure we had a great stay. Thank you Irena and family
We spent a week at Villa Le Piazzole and used it as our base to tour Tuscany. This meant we did not spend as much time at the villa as we would have liked. What time we did spend there was great. It was extremely comfortable and the air conditioning was a godsend in the height of summer.
The pool and outdoor area's were fantastic and after a long hot day was exactly what you needed to relax in.
Just a few minor points; although it did have a kitchenette, it wasn't overly equipt
eg no toaster.
I would still recommend it as fantastic accommodation and a great base to explore Florence. Also, when you book, make sure you get the gate address and not the front door address as the road down from the front door is extremely narrow. Happy touring.
Just as described: old, cool, dark. It's like stepping into a different world. Insect nets and security bars on the windows mean you can leave the window open even when the light is on (though there did not seem to be many problem insects when we were there). There are creeping flowering plants at the windows which add to the green shade and sense of privacy. The location is very handy for the Scuola Normale and other university buildings.
We were looking to experience authentic Tuscany and that is exactly what the Gren family offered. They were there to greet us and then welcomed us into their home for a cooking lesson (which actually felt like a dinner with old friends!). The village is quaint and has everything you need and the villa is in an ideal location. Highly recommended for families - our three adult kids loved it!

Безупречная чистота и обслуживание.Близость ко всем достопримечательностям Тосканы,делают замок необыкновенно привлекательным.Удивительный комфорт и уют в спальнях на верхних этажах и бесподобная галерея с потрясающими фресками на первом.Теплый чистый бассейн ,окруженный живой изгородью,круглосуточный wi-fi на рецепшен,хороший ресторан,близость автобусной остановки(50 метров от замка)все это создает ощущение комфортного прибывания. Монтегуфони это настоящая итальянская сказка.

Ein wunderbares Anwesen, eine herrliche Wohnung, ein schönes Umland, überaus freundliches und hilfsbereites Personal, fast ausschließlich angenehme und kultivierte Gäste.
Aber eine einzige rücksichtslose ...... Familie reicht, um das alles zu zerstören.

Wir sind drei Tage früher als geplant abgereist und werden nur wiederkommen, wenn uns garantiert werden kann, dass diese Sorte von Gästen nicht mehr angenommen wird.
My family (4 adults and 1 baby - mix Canadian/Australian) stayed at the Spuntone villa in Montalcino in July 2013 and I must say it was a real treat. To say that we were blown away upon arrival is an understatement - the villa and property are much better than they appear online (and it looked great online!).
The villa itself is very large inside and could easily accommodate a group larger than ours. The owners of this villa have struck a fantastic balance between that traditional italian village feel with the mod cons that many travellers now value (wifi, modern kitchen, renovated bathrooms, etc.). The bedrooms are large and comfortable with beautiful views of the valley and town. The bathrooms are very well renovated and numerous with 4 to share! The living and dining areas are both large with high ceilings. The kitchen is on the smaller side but it did the trick and comes fully-loaded with everything you could want. The property itself is stunning with an outdoor dining area (undercover) and pool with deck chairs.
The villa is on the edge (walking distance) of an amazing hilltop town called Montalcino that is postcard perfect. If you are a wine lover then the region is the place to be and you'll get to know the famous 'Brunello di Montalcino' and others. There are lovely restaurants, small boutique shops and you're never far from gelato!
We had a rental car and comfortably made day trips to Sienna (1 hour) and Florence (2 hours). We much preferred staying in this wonderful little village and making trips to the bigger towns/cities as opposed to the opposite as it was a very relaxing way to see Italy.
Montalcino was only 3 hours drive from Rome and finding your way from the airport (if you're flying into Rome as we did) was easy with GPS.
All-in-all I can say that this villa and holiday dramatically exceeded my expectations and I can only hope to return again in the future.
